Job Description

Vertically integrated owner/operator/developer is growing and looking for a new Property Accountant to join their team. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience and exposure to Class A commercial properties. This position will report to the Controller and be responsible for business plan implementation across the portfolio in addition to:

  • Day to day/full cycle accounting for a portfolio of Class A commercial office properties
  • Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP for assigned properties including bank reconciliations, journal entries, reclasses, expense accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and maintenance of supporting workpapers
  • Monitor cash and ensure sufficient liquidity for properties
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and work with property managers to resolve any open balances
  • Review and approve payables in Yardi/Procure to Payscan
  • Review rent roll to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare annual CAM, Tax, and Insurance reconciliations based on tenant leases
  • Work with property managers to review variance explanations and monthly accruals
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets
  • Dedication to continuously improve accounting processes
  • Assist with special tasks and projects as requested

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • 1-2+ years of recent hands-on experience with YARDI is a MUST
  • Experience in Class A commercial property accounting with solid understanding of recoveries and various lease types
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Get it done attitude and strong sense of ownership
